1. Get To Know Your Team
Good managers take the time to know their team members as individuals instead of money-making machines for the company. They make an effort to form connections in the workplace and build bonds that create a comfortable, warm environment.
The last thing you want is to foster a negative atmosphere full of conflict or ill feelings. Treating your employees like they’re just another number is a quick and easy way to increase your turnover rate and say goodbye to hardworking people.

2. Communicate Openly
Unfortunately, many managers out there fail to understand how to communicate with their coworkers. But communication is a must to run a successful business that continues to grow. Imagine trying to fulfill online orders or tend to customer service without clear communication from your team. It would be a disaster.
For operations and campaigns to run smoothly, it’s crucial to practice open communication with your team. To do this, make sure to:
• Be clear and straightforward. Don’t beat around the bush, even if you have to break some bad news to someone. It’s more respectful to state things as they are and be honest.
• Listen with intent. It’s important to hear what the other person has to say without jumping to conclusions or passing judgment. Listen to understand their point of view instead of interrupting or simply waiting your turn to speak.
• Consider your body language. Your nonverbal communication will say what your words don’t, so it’s vital to practice inviting body language when speaking to your employees. Remember to keep a healthy amount of eye contact, show them you’re listening and keep a wide, open stance.
• Remain calm. Regardless of the situation, it’s always best to stay calm, especially when you feel upset and might say or do something you regret. Getting angry won’t change anything, and it’s much more professional to keep your cool.
• Communicate early. It’s better to communicate as soon as you know something instead of putting it off. This leads to less confusion across the board so everyone stays on the same page.
3. Practice Fairness
It’s unethical to form biases and pick favorites among your employees. You might have some employees that you have a stronger connection with than others, but that doesn’t mean you can treat them better. Nor does it mean they get extra perks or benefits.
Good managers practice fairness among the whole team and treat everyone the same. They consistently enforce the rules for everyone and make sure everyone gets the same rewards and consequences.
Failing to treat your team members equally will build resentment toward you and certainly won’t pin you as a fair and just leader. It’s your responsibility to treat your employees equally so they feel secure working for you.
